Finding Our Way

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

We Gather In Awe And Wonder

Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting

Leader:   In a season of harvest we light a candle of gratitude for God’s goodness.

People:  In a season busy with school, work, and preparation for holidays, we light a candle reminding us to call on Christ for strength to continue our Christian journey.

Leader:   In a season where the hills around us are clad in beauty, we invoke the Spirit’s presence so we can somehow share that beauty with the world.

*Call To Worship

One:       God is worthy of our highest praise!

All:         Our God is never far from us.

One:       God is our help, coming quickly to our aid.

All:         We will tell of God’s Glory, wherever we go.

One:       Come, let us worship God.

*Hymn: “O Word of God Incarnate”…….. ………….……#459

Leader:   Transforming God, in our living, you are always with us.  In our singing, praying and worship, we hope to share ourselves with you.  May your living word pierce our protective shells exposing our true selves, opening our hearts and our lives to your transformation.  Amen.

We Recognize Our Brokenness

Prayer Of Confession

Leader:   Let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find assurance to aid us in our time of need.

People:  Merciful God, have pity on us:  for all the ways that we have unknowingly broken our covenant with you. . . for all of the systems and structures that we have created to maintain hierarchies amongst one another. . . for all of the ways that we have limited our imagination and understanding of what is possible with your help. . . forgive us we pray.

All:         Amen.  (A time for silent prayers of confession.)

Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

Leader:   Remember that God is always present, even if we cannot sense or behold it.  God is with us always; we are not alone, you are not alone.

Our Offering: Our financial offering is one way that our members participate in the mission and ministry of this church. We thank you for your financial support.  For those of you who are visiting, please feel no need to participate in the offering.  This worship service is our gift to you.

Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree.   Adams County’s day of giving is Thursday, November 8 from 4–7 p.m. at the Gettysburg Area Middle School, 37 Lefever Street, Gettysburg. Donors will find over 75 nonprofits and a festive atmosphere.  The first one thousand visitors will get a free coin worth $10 to donate to the charity of their choice at the event.  Please see adamscountycf.org/for-donors/ACCF-Giving-Spree for details.

John’s Meals, a program of UACT (Upper Adams Christians Together), that provides weekend meals for children in the Upper Adams School District, will be a participant in this year’s Giving Spree. Each nonprofit will be awarded a percentage of a $25,000 “stretch pool” based on the amount of donations it receives during the event. Please plan to attend on November 8 to stretch your financial support for John’s Meals and your other favorite organizations and to learn how Adams County’s nonprofits are serving the community.

If you would like to help increase John’s Meals’ share of the stretch pool but are unable to attend the Giving Spree, you may donate online at adamscountycf.org/for-donors/ACCF-Giving-Spree beginning October 18 or contact Becky Adelmann at adelmann@pa.net or 717-677-9445 to donate a check before November 8.  Single Serve, Microwaveable Cups Of Macaroni And Cheese are being collected to benefit John’s Meals.  The cups need not be a brand name (like Kraft); store brand is fine.  We are aiming to provide 200 cups each month and they may be placed in the cupboard in the rear of the church. The 18-pkg boxes of single-serve Mac and Cheese is also a good donation. It is cheaper and easier to store (boxes).  Any questions, please see Chris.  As always, thank you so much for your faithful support of this ministry.
