Live in Glory

Transfiguration

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

One: God, we have kept ourselves hidden from ourselves and each other.  Your love radiates our innermost solitude and desires, but we veil our brilliant countenances and our deep compassion when we encounter each other.  Lift the veil, free the fear, and heal the ignorances that keep us from living fully and glorious as your beloved people.  Amen. (A time for silent prayers of confession.)

Ash Wednesday is March 6th this year.  Please join us for a joint UACT service at 7 p.m. that evening, here at Zion, for communion and imposition of ashes.  We are hosting a supper at 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall prior to the service.  Please make that fellowship event a part of your evening.  Bring a friend, bring a neighbor . . . let’s all share in this beginning of the Lenten season.  Also, UACT does have plans for a Wednesday evening soup/study to be held at Flohr’s Lutheran at 6 p.m. throughout Lent.  More details on that are forthcoming.

“BELLS” Supper Study – On each Wednesday evening in Lent, we will gather at 5:45 p.m. at Flohr’s Lutheran in McKnightstown for a supper and study session to learn about a new type of spiritual formation called “BELLS.” This is an acronym for Bless, Eat, Learn, Listen, Sent.  It encourages us to be more “missional” in the world and better at proclaiming the good news. While Flohr’s is the meeting site, participating churches will take turns providing the meal.  Please consider joining us for this Lenten journey.

Additional Sunday Money Counters needed! The counting process requires approximately 45 minutes after church on a rotating monthly schedule based on availability. No experience is necessary, but prior money handling is a plus.  If interested, or for more information, please see or contact Laurie .

Church Maintenance Day – On Saturday, March 16, Zion will hold a church maintenance day beginning at 9:00. If you can spare an hour or more, come help us take care of some “spring cleaning” items inside and out.  All volunteers are appreciated.

Nursery. The children’s nursery is staffed with an attendant through March 31. If you choose to accompany and remain with your child, the worship service can be heard while in the nursery.

Book Club- The Book Club will meet March 12 at 7 p.m. to discuss this month’s selection Educated by Tara Westover.   Tara Westover wasn’t your garden variety college student. When the Holocaust was mentioned in a history class, she didn’t know what it was (no, really). That’s because she didn’t see the inside of a classroom until the age of seventeen. Public education was one of the many things her religious fanatic father was dubious of, believing it a means for the government to brainwash its gullible citizens, and her mother wasn’t diligent on the homeschooling front. If it wasn’t for a brother who managed to extricate himself from their isolated (and often dangerous) world, Westover might still be in rural Idaho, trying to survive her survivalist upbringing. . . Educated, Westover’s memoir, is an inspiring reminder that knowledge is, indeed, power.

Community Aid Clothing Bin is available in the Zion House parking lot for clothing donations along with shoes, accessories, draperies, and bed linens.
