Deep Down Questions
Visitors: Welcome to our church. Please sign our guest book! If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us. We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices. Please ask an usher if you require either of these. Restrooms are located in the church school building. Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead. We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.
We Gather In Awe And Wonder
Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting
Leader: Loving Spirit, you have chosen us to receive your light, and we light a candle as a sign of our gratitude.
All: Friend, Advocate, Guide—Lord Jesus you enfold us in your love, and we light a candle to celebrate your Presence, in which we rest.
Leader: Holy God, you have drawn us to your wonder, as you set your seal upon us in our baptism. We light a candle in amazement that you care for each and every one of us, as your own child.
All: We light three candles for the Holy Trinity that loves, redeems, and sustains us.

One: Sacred space, holding all silence; silence, holding the whole word of God; word of God, holding all truth for the world; truth for the world, holding every hope of life; hope of living, holding every grace of God; the grace of God, holding every moment of heaven; moments of heaven, held in sacred space; sacred space, holding all silence; in this silence, God, we meet. Amen.
We Recognize Our Brokenness
Prayer Of Confession
One: “What are you doing here?” asks God. “What are you doing here in the silence, among those who have no voice, among those who have been silenced? What sound will fill the silence? “What are you doing here in the injustice, amid the imbalance of the world, amid the unfairness of people’s lives What act to transform the suffering? “What are you doing here in the pain, amid the hurt of people, amid the brokenness of the world? What response to make whole the healing? “What are you doing here?” asks God. (A time for silent prayers of confession.)
Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness
One: “I am forgiving,” says God. “I am holding you and believing in you. I am waiting to change your living, echo truth into every lie, speak healing into every brokenness. I am forgiving. Come and let us start anew.”

Prayers Of The People And The Lord’s Prayer
One: Creating God, may all our words be filled with silence: a space broad enough to pray for the world’s needs, and a place deep enough to meet you in it. We place a silence here for all conflict, where words can never heal, only the witness of peace-filled living, and the touch of love. (a moment of silence).
We place a silence here for all hurt, where words can never repair, only the witness of grace-filled living, and the touch of love. (a moment of silence).
We place a silence here for all injustice, where words can never break through, only the witness of truth-filled living, and the touch of love. (a moment of silence).
We place a silence here for all victims, where words can never say sorry, only the witness of compassion-filled living, and the touch of love. (a moment of silence).
We place a silence here for all people, where words are confusing and confused, and only the witness of patient living, and the touch of love, speaks. (a moment of silence).
Creating God, may all our words be filled with silence: space broad enough to pray what the world needs, and a place deep enough to meet you in it. Amen.
(Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.)
Our Offering: Our financial offering is one way that our members participate in the mission and ministry of this church. We thank you for your financial support. For those of you who are visiting, please feel no need to participate in the offering. This worship service is our gift to you.
