Father’s Day

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

We Gather In Awe And Wonder

Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting

Leader:   Holy Spirit, Creator, as you hovered over the waters, cover us with the light of your presence.

All:         Holy Spirit, Comforter, by you we are born again, cover us with the light of your holiness.

Leader:  Holy Spirit, Redeemer, by you we are made a living temple, cover us with the light of redemption.

All:         Breath of life, you breathe light into the whole body of the Church and dwell in each one of us.

Response: “God of Great and God of Small”…………#19, v 1

 *Call To Worship

Leader:   God will pour out the Spirit on all flesh, and our daughters and sons shall prophesy.  Our old ones shall dream dreams, and our young ones shall see visions; and all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered.

All:         Come, let us call upon the name of the Lord.

*Hymn: “There Is a Balm in Gilead”…………. ……………#792

Leader:   Come, Creator Spirit, and move over this chaotic world.

People:  Come, Creator Spirit, and bring us new life.  Amen.

We Recognize Our Brokenness

Prayer Of Confession

Leader:   Holy Spirit, you are so full of energy that you are like fire.  And like fire you came upon the disciples at Pentecost.  But our lives this past week have not blazed with your Spirit.  Forgive us, we pray, and fill us with your Spirit.  Come down, O Spirit, fill us, and set us on fire with the power of love so that we can be the people you intend for us to be.

All:         Amen.   (A time for silent prayers of confession.)

 Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

Leader:   God says:  “I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries.  I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean.  I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit  in you and move you to follow my decrees.  You will be my people, and I will be your God.”  Friends in Christ: by the power of the Spirit, we are united with Christ and given a new spirit.  Live in the joy and peace of that assurance.
