Be Holy

Seventh Sunday after Epiphany

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

*Call To Worship

One: Trust in God.

All: We delight in God,

One: for God tends to the desires of our hearts,

All: and commits us to the bright day of justice.

One: Do not fret for God is near.

All: We come to worship because God is good.

*Hymn: “ We’ve a Story to Tell To the Nations”……………………………….insert

*Invocation

Leader: Come closer to us, O God, reconcile us to our brothers and sisters.  Come closer to us, O God, care for our ageing generations.  Come closer to us, O God, forgive us for our wrongdoing.  Come closer to us, O God, protect us from our future famine.  Come closer to us, O God, draw us nearer to each other through you.  Embrace with us, weep with us, that we may be family again.  Amen.

We Recognize Our Brokenness

 Prayer Of Confession

One: Merciful One, we are not what we wish we were; we are often only what we desire.  We are love, when we love one another.  We are strife, when we judge the other as less worthy than ourselves.  We are how we consider the other.  Help us, O God, to be so much more.  More in who we are.  More in how we act.  More in what we dream.  More in how we love.  Let us become the more that you intended in your divine image.  Amen. (A time for silent prayers of confession.)

 Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

One:  God is the salvation of the righteous.  Our refuge in the time of trouble, God helps us, rescues us, and leads us into the bright day of justice and mercy.  Amen.

Affirmation Of Faith

One: Christ has been raised.

All: Therefore, we do not fear being stuck in hopelessness.

One: We are raised with Christ.

All: Therefore, we do not fear death.

One: Let us not destroy what we love nor do what we hate.  Let us not perish in the futility of our sins and doubts.

All: Let us live like a people resurrected.

One: For Christ has been raised from the dead.

All: Love’s power conquers death’s power over us all.
