Leader: If you are lost, here is a place of refuge.  Welcome,

ALL:  this is the House of God.

Leader:  If you are wandering, here is a place of belonging.  Welcome,

ALL:  this is the House of God.

Leader: If you are going round in circles, come and rest.  Welcome,

ALL:  this is the House of God.

Leader:  Bring your stories, bring your questions, bring your searching and your discoveries and together we meet God in the very heart of it all.  You are home.  Welcome,

ALL:  this is the House of God.

We praise you this day, O God, remembering all that you have done. Especially in this Christmas season, we give you thanks for sending Jesus to be our friend, our teacher, our guide, and our Savior. As a new year begins, we ask you to be with us each day, helping us follow the example of Jesus to make our world a little more loving. Amen.

*Opening HYMN# 134: “Joy to the World”, Isaac Watts/G. F. Handel, public domain

Leader: When we want to put Christmas away with the decorations,

All: forgive us, God.

Leader: When we do not trust you to lead us into a new year filled with unknown tomorrows,

All: forgive us, God.

Leader: When we cannot let go of yesterday, and want to hang on to old ideas that do not serve us anymore,

All: forgive us, God.

Leader: When we panic because things are not turning out the way we want or expect, and when we cannot trust your surprises,

All: forgive us, God. Amen.

Leader: God loves the world so much that God sent Jesus to be among us, as one of us, not to judge us but to offer us forgiveness and everlasting life. Thanks be to God!  Amen.

Leader: Glory to God in the highest!

ALL: And peace on earth.

Prayer Requests:  Remember to send your prayer requests via email to the church office by Friday evening to have them included in the Sunday service.

Remembrance Tree:  Thank you so much for embracing the Remembrance Tree and your generous donations of $3,470.00 which will be applied to heating bills for Zion this winter.

Cookie Trays:  Thanks to all who supported our recent cookie tray fundraiser for our 2022 Summer Mission Trip. We had over 90 dozen cookies ordered amongst 5 different congregations (representing the home churches of those going on the mission trip). We made over $700. Thanks again for the faithful support of Zion members.

Christmas Pageant:  I want to send a special shout-out to our children who participated in the pageant!  I am so proud of them!  They all did an amazing job!  And thanks also to their parents who helped out.  We couldn’t have done it without your help!  We are so blessed to have this in our church.  Miss Chris

Beverage Tabs:  Zion is donating the beverage tabs we have been collecting to Lincoln Elementary.  The money that is raised will be used for a young girl who was critically injured this summer after diving into shallow water.  She is currently in need of a wheelchair and Lincoln Elementary is hoping to help her in this endeavor.  So, if you have a stash of tabs at home, now would be a great time to bring them to church.  Thanks everyone!

Recycling Bulletins:  Don’t forget to recycle your bulletins after worship by dropping them in the box at the back of church.

Visitors – We’re glad you stopped in.  Don’t forget to help yourselves to a welcome packet on the credenza in the back of church!

Please remember to check in on Facebook this morning!
