Take Action

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

We Gather In Awe And Wonder

Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting

Leader:   Holy Spirit, Creator, as you hovered over the waters, cover us with the light of your presence.

All:         Holy Spirit, Comforter, by you we are born again, cover us with the light of your holiness.

Leader:  Holy Spirit, Redeemer, by you we are made a living temple, cover us with the light of redemption.

All:         Breath of life, you breathe light into the whole body of the Church and dwell in each one of us.

Response: “Soon and Very Soon”…………………..……#384, v. 1

 *Call To Worship

One:       We, who are many,

All:         are one in Christ.

One:       We, of varying gifts,

All:         are one in Christ.

One:       We, of different cultures and world views,

All:         are one in Christ.

One:       We, who offer praise in different ways,

All:         are one in Christ.

One:       Thanks be to God.

All:         Hallelujah!

*Hymn: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” …………#475

Leader:   If it had not been for you, God, we would not be here.  From busy and chaotic lives and from slow and static lives you call us to worship.  Give us the courageous faith of the midwives Shiphrah and Puah; the creativity of Moses’ mother; the persistence of Miriam; and the compassion of the pharaoh’s daughter.  May we discern what is your will, and follow you with our whole selves.  Amen.

 We Recognize Our Brokenness

Prayer Of Confession

One:       Sometimes we fail to say “No” to those who demand of us things that are contrary to your will.

All:         Forgive us.

One:       Sometimes we fail to say “Yes” to risks that require faith that we have not yet acquired.

All:         Forgive us.

One:       Sometimes we fail to wait, for you to create a seemingly impossible opportunity for hope, when all hope is lost.

All:         Forgive us.  (A time for silent prayers of confession)

 Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

One:       Though we may falter, God’s steadfast love is always ready to hold and support us.

All:         We are forgiven by God’s grace; thanks be to God.  Amen.

John’s Meals Needs Volunteers To Pack And Deliver three weekend meals and snacks to the children from food insecure homes in the Upper Adams community.  We have been currently providing these weekend meals to the children at Arendtsville and Bendersville Elementary.  We would like to start serving the children at Biglerville Elementary.  BUT–We need more teams to pack and deliver weekend meals in order to expand our mission! The volunteer teams should consist of 3-4 people to pack food bags and then deliver and hand out the bags to children at an elementary school at 3:00 at the end of the week.  Each team would be scheduled to deliver the weekend meals approximately once a month.  We can provide assistance to volunteers to apply for security clearances as required by the school district.  Please contact Angie or Pam, John’s Meals Volunteer coordinator.
