Worship: April 16, 2017, Sunrise Service

Easter Sunrise: April 16, 2017

Joint Worship: Trinity Lutheran and Zion UCC Arendtsville

6:15 a.m., Fairview Cemetery

Words Of Welcome:

Leader:     The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

People:            And also with you.

Leader:     Christ is Risen!

People:     He is Risen Indeed!

Opening Song: “This is the Day” (on back of bulletin)

 Prayer Of Thanksgiving

Leader:    On this day we overflow with thanks and praise, O God, for this is the day you have made. On this day you sent your angels to roll back the stone and you raised Jesus, who had been crucified, from the dead. Never again need we search for Jesus in the places of dead memories and buried dreams, for now he has been raised and goes forever ahead of us to open the gates of justice, preaching peace and the forgiveness of sins. Indeed though he was the stone rejected by the builders, you have made him the cornerstone, the rock on which is founded the life everlasting, the life that is hidden for us in Christ until it is revealed with Christ in glory.

All:           We thank you and we praise you, O God, through your living word, eternally. Amen.

A Reading From Isaiah 65: 17-25

The Account Of The Resurrection From Mark 16: 1-8

An Easter Affirmation:

Leader:    On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines, of rich food filled with marrow.

People:     And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he shall swallow up death forever.

Leader:    Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take from the earth, for the Lord has spoken. It will be said on that day,

People:    This is our God. We have waited for him so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Holy Communion served by intinction. This is an open communion table to which all are invited through the grace and hospitality of our merciful God.

All:           The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever, Amen.
