A New Way
Visitors: Welcome to our church. Please sign our guest book! If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us. We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices. Please ask an usher if you require either of these. Restrooms are located in the church school building. Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead. We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.
We Gather In Awe And Wonder
Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting
Leader: In a season of harvest we light a candle of gratitude for God’s goodness.
People: In a season busy with school, work, and preparation for holidays, we light a candle reminding us to call on Christ for strength to continue our Christian journey.
Leader: In a season where the hills around us are clad in beauty, we invoke the Spirit’s presence so we can somehow share that beauty with the world.
*Call To Worship
One: O how manifold are the works of God.
All: The earth is full of God’s glorious creation.
One: We are a part of God’s magnificent design.
All: Let us bless and praise our great and good God.
*Hymn: “Eternal Father, Strong to Save………………….……#8
Leader: God, you are so great, we cannot help but praise you with our entire being. Help us to recognize your glory in everything around us: the winds carry your messages, and the elements preach your sermons. All of creation is a living love letter that inspires awe and praise. Help us to celebrate and find solace in this love today and every day. Amen.
We Recognize Our Brokenness
Prayer Of Confession
One: When we take counsel in pretty words that lack knowledge and wisdom,
All: forgive us.
One: When we speak with authority and condemnation about things we barely understand,
All: forgive us.
One: When we, in our ignorance, act as if we can control the morning stars or the lion’s roar,
All: forgive us.
One: When we have forgotten you and have forgotten who we are,
All: forgive us. (A time for silent prayers of confession.)
Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness
Leader: God, who speaks in whirlwinds and soft breezes, continues to speak to us now. Be assured that God’s still small voice is planted deep within each of us, for the sake of creation.

And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.)
Our Offering: Our financial offering is one way that our members participate in the mission and ministry of this church. We thank you for your financial support. For those of you who are visiting, please feel no need to participate in the offering. This worship service is our gift to you.

*Closing Hymn: “This Is My Father’s World” ………..……..#370

Anyone who would like to learn the basics of knitting and crocheting is welcome to join us at those meetings on the last Wednesday of the month. If your preferred medium is something other than knitting or crocheting, we welcome you also – sewing, quilting, art – the more the merrier!
Donations To John’s Meals Cannot Be Made Out To Zion UCC. The check must be made out to Upper Adams Christians Together. The accounts are entirely separate and funds cannot be transferred from one to another.

Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree. Adams County’s day of giving is Thursday, November 8 from 4–7 p.m. at the Gettysburg Area Middle School, 37 Lefever Street, Gettysburg. Donors will find over 75 nonprofits and a festive atmosphere. The first one thousand visitors will get a free coin worth $10 to donate to the charity of their choice at the event. Please see adamscountycf.org/for-donors/ACCF-Giving-Spree for details.
John’s Meals, a program of UACT (Upper Adams Christians Together), that provides weekend meals for children in the Upper Adams School District, will be a participant in this year’s Giving Spree. Each nonprofit will be awarded a percentage of a $25,000 “stretch pool” based on the amount of donations it receives during the event. Please plan to attend on November 8 to stretch your financial support for John’s Meals and your other favorite organizations and to learn how Adams County’s nonprofits are serving the community.
If you would like to help increase John’s Meals’ share of the stretch pool but are unable to attend the Giving Spree, you may donate online at adamscountycf.org/for-donors/ACCF-Giving-Spree beginning October 18 or contact Becky Adelmann at firstname.lastname@example.org or 717-677-9445 to donate a check before November 8. (Please note that in order to be included in the Giving Spree total, your check must be dated November 8, 2018 and be made out to ACCF.)
When Paying For Altar Flowers, please give payment to the altar guild representative for that month. A check payment is preferred. Altar flowers are from The Flower Boutique with a florist’s choice $35 arrangement cost.
Community Aid Clothing Bin is available in the Zion House parking lot for clothing donations along with shoes, accessories, draperies, and bed linens. We receive funds each quarter based upon the weight of items deposited in the container, and those funds are used toward the Mission Budget. For the second quarter of 2018, Zion received $400. After your yard sales, consider donating unsold appropriate items to the bin.
Single Serve, Microwaveable Cups Of Macaroni And Cheese are being collected to benefit John’s Meals. The cups need not be a brand name (like Kraft); store brand is fine. We are aiming to provide 200 cups each month and they may be placed in the cupboard in the rear of the church. The 18-pkg boxes of single-serve Mac and Cheese is also a good donation. It is cheaper and easier to store (boxes). Any questions, please see Chris. As always, thank you so much for your faithful support of this ministry.
Children’s Activity Bags are located under the credenza at the rear of the church.
Greeter And Bulletin Sponsorship Sign-Up Sheets are on the credenza.
Greeters are needed for November 4, 18, and 25.
