 Welcome to Zion and a special welcome to our visitors. Please sign the guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

*Where noted, please stand if able.

Congregational response in bold print.

In this place, the word of God is free to all and for all.

In this place, the love of God does not judge or condemn anyone.

In this place, the faithfulness of God welcomes each soul.

In this place, God’s presence gives birth to justice.

As disciples of Christ in this place,

we commit ourselves to being a liberated, loving, faithful, and just people.

O Lord God, grant us grace to desire you with our whole heart;

so that desiring you we may seek and find you;

and so finding you we may love you;

and loving you, we may express our gratitude for the mercy you have shown us. Amen.

*GATHERING HYMN # 177 “I Will Come to You”

God does not disappoint those who come in hope,

nor does God turn away those who approach in faith.

Let us make our confession to God in hope and faith.

Forgive us, we pray,

for our timidity in witness,

 for our quickness in judgment,

for our slowness to forgive,

for our weakness in conviction,

and for our reluctance to understand others.

Pardon us for our sins, and help us to be more worthy followers

of the One who cared for the poor and oppressed, who loved the

outcast, and who turned aside to help whenever he saw a need.

And now let us confess in silence those fears that keep us from loving as Christ has loved us.

God forgives our sin and restores us to life.

Our sense of alienation is overcome as we are embraced by God’s steadfast love.

Friends, the doors of God are open wide to receive us.

We are heard and known.

The peace of God is ours to accept and cherish.

Thank God with whole hearts!

Give thanks for the new life God offers, and live as forgiven people.

* HYMN RESPONSE # 288 “Spirit of the Living God”

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

Melt me; mold me; fill me; use me;

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

II Timothy 2: 8-15, p. 200 (NT)

CHOIR ANTHEM: “Hymn of Promise” . . .Natalie Sleeth/Tom Fettke

St. Luke 17: 11-19, p. 75 (NT)

*HYMN # 264 “At the Name of Jesus”

Our Father who art in heaven,

Hallowed by thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done

On earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins

As we forgive those who sin against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Through the prophet Jeremiah, God instructed the people of Israel to

“seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you” (Jer. 29:7).

As we give, we are seeking the good of our entire community.

For the life that you have given, for the love in Christ made known,

With these fruits of time and labor, with these gifts that are your own;

Here we offer, Lord, our praises, heart and mind and strength we bring;

Give us grace to love and serve you, living what we pray and sing.

We dedicate these tithes and offerings that are part of the ministry of this

congregation. We pray that they may be a blessing within this sanctuary,

up and down the streets of our community, across the cities and

fields of our country, and across the oceans and deserts of our world.

*CLOSING HYMN # 772 “Live into Hope”

Having been loved, go out and love.

Having been pardoned, go out and pardon.

Having been transformed, go out and transform.

*CHORAL BENEDICTION # 542 “God Be With You Til We Meet Again”  v. 4

God be with you till we meet again; keep love’s banner floating o’er you,

Smite death’s threatening wave before you; God be with you till we meet again.
