Live in Glory
Visitors: Welcome to our church. Please sign our guest book! If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us. We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices. Please ask an usher if you require either of these. Restrooms are located in the church school building. Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead. We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

Prayer Of Confession
One: God, we have kept ourselves hidden from ourselves and each other. Your love radiates our innermost solitude and desires, but we veil our brilliant countenances and our deep compassion when we encounter each other. Lift the veil, free the fear, and heal the ignorances that keep us from living fully and glorious as your beloved people. Amen. (A time for silent prayers of confession.)
Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness
One: The Spirit of God is freedom, and that Spirit is with you. Friends, hear the good news of the gospel; with Christ, we are forgiven, loved, and free. Amen.

Ash Wednesday is March 6th this year. Please join us for a joint UACT service at 7 p.m. that evening, here at Zion, for communion and imposition of ashes. We are hosting a supper at 6 p.m. in Fellowship Hall prior to the service. Please make that fellowship event a part of your evening. Bring a friend, bring a neighbor . . . let’s all share in this beginning of the Lenten season. Also, UACT does have plans for a Wednesday evening soup/study to be held at Flohr’s Lutheran at 6 p.m. throughout Lent. More details on that are forthcoming.
“BELLS” Supper Study – On each Wednesday evening in Lent, we will gather at 5:45 p.m. at Flohr’s Lutheran in McKnightstown for a supper and study session to learn about a new type of spiritual formation called “BELLS.” This is an acronym for Bless, Eat, Learn, Listen, Sent. It encourages us to be more “missional” in the world and better at proclaiming the good news. While Flohr’s is the meeting site, participating churches will take turns providing the meal. Please consider joining us for this Lenten journey.
Additional Sunday Money Counters needed! The counting process requires approximately 45 minutes after church on a rotating monthly schedule based on availability. No experience is necessary, but prior money handling is a plus. If interested, or for more information, please see or contact Laurie .
Church Maintenance Day – On Saturday, March 16, Zion will hold a church maintenance day beginning at 9:00. If you can spare an hour or more, come help us take care of some “spring cleaning” items inside and out. All volunteers are appreciated.
Bendersville Lutheran Church is sponsoring a trip to Sight and Sound to see JESUS on April 12, 2019. See details in the flyers on the credenza at the back of church if interested in attending.
The Visiting Nurse Association of Hanover & Spring Grove announces the Florence deHaven Stick Memorial Scholarship application process is now open. Any student enrolled or accepted in an accredited L.P.N. or R.N. nursing program beginning in the fall of 2019 is eligible. Applications can be found online at www.vnahanover.org.
Breakfast Ladies Group will meet March 11th at 9:00 a.m. at The Apple Bin. Please bring one of your very favorite recipes. It can be main dish, vegetable, dessert, etc. Please have recipe types or handwritten on a card or paper.
Trivia Nite is Sunday, March 10 starting at 6:00 PM. Why not gather a team and join us? Any questions, see Gina.
Nursery. The children’s nursery is staffed with an attendant through March 31. If you choose to accompany and remain with your child, the worship service can be heard while in the nursery.
Book Club- The Book Club will meet March 12 at 7 p.m. to discuss this month’s selection Educated by Tara Westover. Tara Westover wasn’t your garden variety college student. When the Holocaust was mentioned in a history class, she didn’t know what it was (no, really). That’s because she didn’t see the inside of a classroom until the age of seventeen. Public education was one of the many things her religious fanatic father was dubious of, believing it a means for the government to brainwash its gullible citizens, and her mother wasn’t diligent on the homeschooling front. If it wasn’t for a brother who managed to extricate himself from their isolated (and often dangerous) world, Westover might still be in rural Idaho, trying to survive her survivalist upbringing. . . Educated, Westover’s memoir, is an inspiring reminder that knowledge is, indeed, power.
Community Aid Clothing Bin is available in the Zion House parking lot for clothing donations along with shoes, accessories, draperies, and bed linens. We receive funds each quarter based upon the weight of items deposited in the container, and those funds are used toward the Mission Budget. For the third quarter of 2018, Zion received $232. After your yard sales, consider donating unsold appropriate items to the bin.
