Flourishing

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

We Gather In Awe And Wonder

Prelude

Announcements

Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting

Leader:         Loving Spirit, you have chosen us to receive your light, and we light a candle as a sign of our gratitude.

All:               Friend, Advocate, Guide—Lord Jesus you enfold us in your love, and we light a candle to celebrate your Presence, in which we rest.

Leader:         Holy God, you have drawn us to your wonder, as you set your seal upon us in our baptism.  We light a candle in amazement that you care for each and every one of us, as your own child.

All:               We light three candles for the Holy Trinity that loves, redeems, and sustains us.

 Response:   “Lord, Prepare Me”…………..……#701

 *Call To Worship

Leader:         People of God, come to worship this day, willing to look through the heart, ready to encounter God in new ways, available to new revelations of faith, prepared to set aside preconceptions, open to mystery and wonder.

*Hymn: “God of the Fertile Fields”…………….. ………..…#714

 *Invocation

Leader:         Come Spirit, abide with us today; be our guide and wise counsel, be our advocate and our companion, be our reassurance.  You lead us along new pathways and into new places.  You reveal your nature and the nature of God to us.  Save us from our preconceptions and hold us in your care.  Amen.

We Recognize Our Brokenness

 Prayer Of Confession

All:               Dear God:  we confess that we sometimes hold a narrow view of life and of others.  We can be so convinced that what we perceive is true that we close our hearts and minds to alternatives.  We can become disdainful of scenarios that don’t fit our outlook.  We acknowledge the hard-heartedness of this.  We confess that at times we are unwilling to do the work to look deeper, to consider the multitudes of circumstances and events that are required to make informed and just judgments about the people we meet.  We are sorry.   (A time for silent  prayers of confession.)

Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

Leader:         You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.  Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.  People of God, all of us together have received God’s mercy in Christ.  In Christ we are forgiven, redeemed, and made to be a community united in faith.  Thanks be to God.

June’s Proverb:

A “Hoss’s Community Night” Event will be held “All Day” on Sunday, June 24, at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House in Gettysburg.  Present a copy of the “Hoss’s Community Night” sheet on the credenza. Hoss’s will then donate a percentage of the check paid to the 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering Trip through UACT.

Firepit Fellowship. This summer we are doing something new on our regular, last Sunday of the month, hot dog roasts. On June 24 at 6 p.m. we kick off the summer season by inviting our local first responders, Fire and EMT, to join us for good food and fun.  They will be invited to bring their families, as well. This will be a great family event, with a fire engine, games, and the opportunity to enjoy getting to know our first responders who serve our community so well.  If you would like to help with this event, please let Debra Scarborough or Kim Johnson know.  The other dates for hot dog roasts are July 29 and August 26.  We are hoping that our first responders, and other neighbors, will join us for those, as well.

Mama Mia! At The Totem Pole Playhouse.   Only 11 tickets remain for the Saturday, August 4, matinee performance of “Mama Mia!” Be sure to reserve your ticket now by signing the sheet in the back of the sanctuary.  We expect this show to be a sold-out run.  If interested, an after-performance behind the scenes tour is available for the group.  Tickets are $30 per person.  Please make checks payable to Debra.  Come join the Zion group to enjoy the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propelling this enchanting tale of love, laughter, and friendship, creating an unforgettable show.

Window Air Conditioners Are Available. Available is one 16,500 BTU, one 12,000 BTU, and three 6,500 BTUs. Any church member interested should let Bob or Kevin know.
