God-Inspired Joy

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

We Gather In Awe And Wonder

Prelude:   Transfigure Us, O Lord………………Hurd

Announcements

Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting

Leader:    Loving Spirit, you have chosen us to receive your light, and we light a candle as a sign of our gratitude.

All:           Friend, Advocate, Guide—Lord Jesus you enfold us in your love, and we light a candle to celebrate your Presence, in which we rest.

Leader:    Holy God, you have drawn us to your wonder, as you set your seal upon us in our baptism.  We light a candle in amazement that you care for each and every one of us, as your own child.

All:           We light three candles for the Holy Trinity that loves, redeems, and sustains us.

Response: “Great Are You, Lord”………………..#614

 *Call To Worship

Leader:   God lavishes us with the rich blessings of grace, God gathers us into mystery and makes it known to us, God gathers us up with all things in heaven and on earth and makes us God’s own people.

*Hymn: “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” ………………#353

 *Invocation

All:         Loving God, you gather us up as your redeemed people, your children.  We are bound together by your spirit, that we might be a living reflection of your glory and grace.  Open our hearts this day to strengthen our resolve to accept the challenges that come with this call.  Bring us clarity of mind so we might better know and understand your intent for us within your good creation.  Amen.

We Recognize Our Brokenness

Prayer Of Confession

Leader:   God of all creation, by your word and deeds you gather us into your family, as you gather all that is to yourself.  But with arrogance, lack of insight, perhaps even hardness of heart we place ourselves above all other things, we disregard our connectedness with all that is, and overlook the symbiosis that weaves all of creation together.

People:  We fail to see that we are family; along with the mountains and seas, the forests and rivers, the wild geese and the swallows.  We forget that we are only one part of all things.  We do wrong and act without consideration, but we do not have to live with brokenness, nor do we need to bear the pain of great acts of contrition, and spend our lives on bended knees.  To be forgiven we need only ask for forgiveness.  So we come simply and humbly and ask that once again you extend your mercy to us.  (A time for silent prayers of confession.)

 Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

Leader:   As God extends blessing throughout all the earth and into the heavens, so God extends grace to us all and forgives us our wrongdoing.  Be thankful and rejoice.  Amen.
