Visitors: Welcome to our church. Please sign our guest book! If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us. We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices. Please ask an usher if you require either of these. Restrooms are located in the church school building. Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead. We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.
We Gather In Awe And Wonder
Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting Response
Leader: We light a candle in the name of the God who spoke the world into existence.
All: We light a second candle in the name of the King who was, and who is, and who ever shall be.
Leader: We light a light in the name of the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who walks beside us.
*Call To Worship
One: The peace of Christ now rules in our hearts.
All: We give thanks that in Christ, we are one body!
One: The word of Christ now dwells with us.
All: Let our hearts sing today with gratitude and praise!
*Hymn: “Once in Royal David’s City”……. ………………#140
Leader: Holy One, today we celebrate Immanuel, God-with-Us, who comes to us as a child. We remember that even Jesus grew, and we pray that we might also grow in wisdom as we listen for all creation repeating the sounding joy. We praise your beauty. We bask in your mystery. And when we catch a glimpse of you in our midst, help us to treasure you in our hearts. Amen.
We Recognize Our Brokenness
Prayer Of Confession
All: God, sometimes our Christmas spirit is short-lived. We forget that it’s our job, too, to help the Word to become flesh. Forgive us. Renew us. Help us to remember that the angels still call us to live in peace on earth. (A time for silent prayers of confession.)
Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness
Leader: Hear the good news. You are holy and beloved, God’s chosen ones. God has forgiven you, so forgive yourselves and one another. God is yet with us. Thanks be to God!

*Hymn: “There’s a Star in the East”………………..#135
Pastoral Prayer And The Lord’s Prayer
(Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.)
Our Offering: Our financial offering is one way that our members participate in the mission and ministry of this church. We thank you for your financial support. For those of you who are visiting, please feel no need to participate in the offering. This worship service is our gift to you.
*Doxology: “Praise God, from Whom All Blessings” ………..….#606
*Prayer Of Dedication
Leader: God, our world overflows with the bounty of your love. May that love continue to flow through our hearts so that we are generous with the gifts you have given. May our gifts sing your praise; may they bless the world with your joy. Amen.
We Go Forth To Live Transformed lives
*Closing Hymn: “Go, Tell It on the Mountain” ………….……….#136
*Blessing (from Colossians 3: 12-14)
Leader: So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
*Choral Benediction: “Good Christian Friends, Rejoice”…….……#132 vs 3
*Where noted, please stand if able.
Do not quarrel with anyone without cause, when no harm has been done to you. Proverbs 3: 29

Single Serve, Microwaveable Cups Of Macaroni And Cheese are being collected to benefit John’s Meals. The cups need not be a brand name (like Kraft); store brand is fine. We are aiming to provide 200 cups each month and they may be placed in the cupboard in the rear of the church. The 18-pkg boxes of single-serve Mac and Cheese is also a good donation. It is cheaper and easier to store (boxes). Any questions, please see Chris. As always, thank you so much for your faithful support of this ministry.
Community Aid Clothing Bin is available in the Zion House parking lot for clothing donations along with shoes, accessories, draperies, and bed linens. We receive funds each quarter based upon the weight of items deposited in the container, and those funds are used toward the Mission Budget. For the second quarter of 2018, Zion received $400.
