At Home with God

Visitors: Welcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

We Gather In Awe And Wonder

Prelude

Announcements

Chime Interlude And Candle Lighting

Leader:    Loving Spirit, you have chosen us to receive your light, and we light a candle as a sign of our gratitude.

All:           Friend, Advocate, Guide—Lord Jesus you enfold us in your love, and we light a candle to celebrate your Presence, in which we rest.

Leader:    Holy God, you have drawn us to your wonder, as you set your seal upon us in our baptism.  We light a candle in amazement that you care for each and every one of us, as your own child.

All:           We light three candles for the Holy Trinity that loves, redeems, and sustains us.

Response:   “God Welcomes All”………………….#399

 *Call To Worship

Leader:   This is the house of God, the home of all.

People:  All who are buffeted and embattled by the storms of life, come seek refuge here.  All who are weakened by hardship and pain, come seek comfort here.

Leader:   All who are puzzled and perplexed by our complex world, come find clarity here.  All who are weary and eroded of strength, come find rest and respite here.

People:  All who struggle to find connection and care, come find community here.  All who are overconfident, brash and boisterous, come find stillness here.

Leader:   All who are uncertain and find it hard to believe, come find welcome here.  Come, here we will learn how to live in faith and truth.

*Hymn: “Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus” ……………….…(insert)

*Invocation

Leader:   God of grace, we come to worship today so that we might be held in community.  We come to be cared for in our sorrow, we come to share our joy, we come seeking strength and renewal, we come because we long to be in relationship with you.  We come blessed because we know your generosity is not contained only to ourselves but your arms open wide and gather all that is into your home.  Even the sparrow finds a nest here.  So with thankful hearts, we join the saints of the church past, present, and future in singing your praise and worshipping you.  Amen.

 We Recognize Our Brokenness

Prayer Of Confession

Leader:   Holy One, we come with our prayers today because we have come to know and believe that you hold the words of life, and we long to live in better relationship with you.  This yearning colours our perspective, and we see where we have messed up, where we have been naïve, where we have been inconsistent, where we have given into pessimism.  We see so clearly all that we regret.  (A time for silent prayers of confession.)

 Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

Leader:   God returns our yearning for relationship, and rejoices when we re-establish and renew our friendship.  God extends mercy to us all.  Leave your regrets and travel on in peace.  Amen.
