Who says nobody reads books anymore?

Here is a list of the books that we have read so far, in Book Group:  we’re amazed at how many we’ve read.  In September we’re  going into our 4 th year of great reading and great fun!  In a highly unscientific poll we rated our top and bottom picks, so far.

Top rated books:

#1 was:  The Help by Kathryn Stockett

#2 was:  The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer

#3 place was shared by numerous books:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

First Family

Water for Elephants

The Kite Runner

The Horse Boy –  (not a well known book but one about an autistic child and his parents’ heroic efforts to find a cure for his autism)

Left To Tell – (this less known book is written by a survivor of the Rwandan genocide)

Bottom Rated Picks

#1 was:  The Tale of Edgar Sawtelle (our dear departed friend Bob was the only one who liked it!)

#2 was:  Three Cups of Tea

#3:  this position was shared by three selections–

Animal, Vegetable, Mineral (although at least one person loved it and tried valiantly to champion its cause, it had many detractors)

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time

The Life of Pi

Other books read:

The Secret Message of Jesus

Traveling Mercies

Accidental Tourist

Camel Bookmobile

Here if You Need Me

The Red Tent

The Shack

My Sister’s Keeper

Blood Work

Tall Grass

Sworn to Silence

Angel Time

The Confession

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

The Zookeeper’s Wife

Even though we don’t all like the same books, we do all love reading and appreciate the opportunity to read books we wouldn’t have read otherwise.  Some of our best discussions have been about books that most of us disliked!
