Volunteering at Apple Harvest for our Reach Youth Group

We’ve begun our fund raising for the 2014 Reach mission work camp to Monroe North Carolina July 12-19. We are excited about another great trip, and another chance to serve God and neighbor. We are one of the volunteer groups at Apple Harvest this year, and will be paid by the Festival for our hours. This is one of the many ways we are raising the $12,000 (at least) needed for the trip. We worked at the applesauce making stand and had a great time. The equipment is run by a 1921 steam engine, and the apple coring machines are ones that were in the original Knouse plant. Technology has changed, but hard work hasn’t! It takes many hands to prepare, cook and jar the sauce…but we had a blast. We will work next weekend as well.  We thank Eleanor, Kayla, and Jordan 3 of our Zion teens, for helping this past weekend.
