2020 was a mere twelve days old when generous Trivia Nite participants met this past Sunday for the first night of competition in the new year. Team Trinity (comprised of Cytha Grissom, Dani and Wayne Stottlemyer, and Cytha and Anding Guynes), who dramatically revealed their matching shirts (with Trinity UCC logo), came out on top, amassing $375 for their charity of choice: The Zoos Victoria Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund (ZVBEWF). An evening of intriguing questions, food, and fellowship was shared among friends.
About the ZVBEWF:
Across the national bushfire-affected areas of Australia, it is estimated that as many as 500 million animals – including critically endangered species – have perished, with the full impact impossible to determine. Entering the sites of the current bushfires remains unsafe; however, Zoos Victoria is taking a responsive role, understanding that their work is going to be most needed in the coming months. Donations made to their not-for-profit organization will provide emergency veterinary care and scientific intervention (such as exploring supplementary feeding for the animals who have survived, but whose habitats have been destroyed by the bushfires). Donations will be utilized in consultation with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to ensure funds most effectively assist injured wildlife and their habitat.
Genesis 1:26 <The Message (MSG)>:
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
