Weekly Bulletin:  May 31, 2009, Announcements

The Veterans Action Team meets today in the sanctuary following worship.

Please Submit June 14 Bulletin Announcements to the church office by Wednesday, June 3.

Open House will be held at Kim and Larry’s residence on Saturday, June 6.  You are welcome to visit at their new home.  Refreshments will be served and Ranger Larry will lead a short walk at 1:30.  Please refer to the June newsletter for driving directions.  Rain date is Saturday, June 20.

Brunch Will Be Served in the Fellowship Room following our worship service on June 7, 2009.  Those attending are requested to sign on the sheet at the rear of the church and specify what dish (if possible) they are planning to provide.  Please bring your place settings also.  Zion will provide coffee, tea, juice, etc.

To Make Our Sanctuary And Grounds Spic And Span, Zion will have a Clean-Up day on Sunday, June 7, immediately following the brunch.  Help is needed to clean the sanctuary, Sunday School rooms, mulch and weed the flower beds, trim the bushes, etc.  Please feel free to bring your own cleaning supplies.  The participation of children is welcomed.

The Annual Penn Central Conference Meeting will be held at Susquehanna University on June 12, 13, 14.  If interested, contact Pastor Kim or Tony.

Flag Day.  On June 14 at 7:00 p.m., at the Legion Woods in Biglerville, the Biglerville Legion will hold a flag retirement ceremony.  According to flag etiquette, this is the proper way to dispose of American flags.  This meaningful ceremony is open to all – families are encouraged to attend.

The 2009 Flower  Calendar is now posted in the vestibule.  Available dates are July 5, 12; and December 27.  We welcome you to sign up.    ($30 “Florist Choice”)

Read All About It!  Please prayerfully consider becoming a sponsor, and adding to Zion’s Sunday School library youth collection!  Zion’s CEST is already gearing up for the 2009-2010 Sunday School year, and we are once again asking for help from Zion’s congregation to sponsor the books and/or DVDs that accompany our K-6th Grade Rotational Model Curriculum.  Zion’s congregational support for this endeavor last year was overwhelming!  If every church family unit sponsored just one book or video, our needs would be quickly met!  Such a sponsorship helps us offset our Sunday School budget significantly.  Books and DVDs start at $7.00 and vary in price and topic.  For your convenience, the sponsor sign-up sheet is now located on a clipboard on the credenza at the rear of the sanctuary.  Please submit payment to either Gina or Meagan on or before Sunday, June 7 (checks may be made payable to Zion Sunday School).  Thank you in advance for your support, Zion’s Christian Education Steering Team (CEST).

The Food Pantry Items for June are toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Greeters Needed for June 7, 14, 21, 28; July 5, 12, 19, 26; Aug. 2, 9, 16, 23.

Scripture Setting Sponsors Needed for June 21, 28; July 5, 12, 26; Aug. 9, 16, 30.

The Third Annual Erika Cox – Jared Stone Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Sunday, June 7, with a 1:00 shotgun start.  Dinner will be provided afterward.   For the past two years, we’ve been able to provide two $500 scholarships.  We are looking for local businesses to become hole or food sponsors as well as golfers.  If interested, please contact Jessica.  Thank you!

Prayers Of The People:  You are invited to offer any prayers you wish by writing them on the PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE paper located at the rear of the sanctuary.  Please share both joys and concerns.  Also, if you would like to share a prayer out loud during the pastoral prayers you are invited to do so during the interval provided.

Please Tell Us.  Is someone you love hospitalized?  Does someone need a visit from the pastor or the visitation team?  Do you have a birth, marriage, death or other information you'd like to include in the newsletter or bulletin?  Please tell us!  Our church office counts on you to keep us informed.  Give us a call at the office.  Hospital visitors for this month are listed with the lay ministers in this bulletin and in the monthly newsletters.

If You Have A Need For Prayer, please remember that we have a prayer chain available.  Please call Liz; she will activate the chain for you.   You may also submit a prayer request to the Prayer Center on our Web site.  It is located under “Connect.”   Our Lord teaches us in Matthew Chapter 18.  "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
