Prophet on the Edge
Visitors: Welcome to our church. Please sign our guest book! If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us. We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices. Please ask an usher if you require either of these. Restrooms are located in the church school building. Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead. We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.
We Gather To Worship
Prelude
Announcements
Chime Interlude
*Call To Worship
Leader: In your presence we find a place of safety where we will never be put to shame. Your way is good and right and keeps us from all kinds of trouble. Tune your heart to the sounds of our voices as we open our hearts to worship you.
*Sing: “Spirit, Working in Creation”…………………#293, vs 1
Leader: Shelter us from all that threatens to destroy; for, with you, we do not have to be afraid. You are our hope and trust from the days of our youth. Tune your heart to the sounds of our voices as we open our hearts to worship you.
*Sing: “Spirit, Working in Creation”…………………#293, vs 2
Leader: We have trusted you from the time we were born; in fact, it was you who drew us out of our mothers’ wombs and you midwife us along the way. Tune your heart to the sounds of our voices as we open our hearts to worship you.
*Hymn: “Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling”…………………#289
*Opening Prayer (We light the Christ Candle.)
All: God whose voice echoes all around and deep inside, speak to us through gentle reminders, hard truths, encouraging ideas, and emerging thoughts. Then put your words in our mouths that we may speak the ways of your love.
*Response: “O Love, How Deep, How Broad”………… #193, V6
Prayer Of Confession
Leader: Holy One, when we forget you in our busyness
People: make us mindful of your steadfast presence,
Leader: When we will not look truth in the face,
People: turn our eyes to your way.
Leader: When we recoil from the harsh realities of life,
People: open us to the suffering within and around us.
Leader: When we move on in blissful ignorance,
People: awaken in us a heart of compassion.
Leader: When we are afraid to speak our minds,
People: put into our mouths words of your justice.
Leader: When we question the very thought of you in our lives,
People: become real to us, once again, through love. (A time for silent prayers of confession; Music: “Channels Only.”)
Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness
Leader: God says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart as my own.” Secure in our place within God, we can receive both comfort and challenge, words easy and hard, future hope and present reality. Receive again this message: God says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart as my own.”
People: Amen. Let it be so.

The Confirmation Class will meet today beginning at 11:15 a.m.
The Worship Committee will meet on Tuesday, February 2, in Zion House at 7:00 pm.
Zion will be holding New Member Classes February 14 and February 21 following Sunday School in Fellowship Hall. We will recognize new members on February 28 during worship. Please speak to Pastor Kim if you know of potential new members, or are interested in joining our fellowship.
The Book Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, February 4, 7:00 p.m. at Zion House. The book being discussed is The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The setting is in Mississippi in 1962. Three unforgettable women come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk. And why? Because they are suffocating within the lines that define their town and their times. And sometimes lines are made to be crossed.
The Profits From Our Community Night At Hoss’s was $171.33. Thank you to everyone who participated. Our next community night will be Monday, April 12.
If You Are Interested In Serving On Any Church Committee, please contact a consistory member.
Children’s Activity Bags are located under the credenza at the rear of the church.
Wanted: Your Old Paperback Books!!! These books will be donated to the “Paperbacks for the Troops” program. If you have any books you are willing to give away, please place them in the box located in the Coat Vestibule. We will be transporting the books quarterly to Sally Brooks, owner of Alibis in Carlisle. Ms. Brooks is a former employee of the Army War college who has started this program because she saw a need for our troops. She prefers paperbacks over hardback books due to the cost of shipping. I will be taking the first collection to Carlisle the end of March. If you have any questions, please contact Annette.
The 2010 Flower Calendar is now posted in the vestibule. We welcome your signing up. Dates available for the first half of the calendar year are Feb. 28; April 11, 25; May 2, 9, 16, 30; and June 27.

Sweatshirts For Philadelphia. The confirmation class will be collecting gently used or new sweatshirts for men or women as well as underwear or socks to be distributed during their Philadelphia trip. The items may be left in their Sunday School room. If any questions, please contact Kendra.
