Historian shares Camp Michaux story

On Sunday, November 14th, Historian David Smith shared a fascinating presentation on the local landmark Camp Michaux. He is shown in this picture, on the left, talking with General David Hicks who was visiting our church.   David is the retired librarian for the Cumberland County Historical Society.  He has made an extensive study of the three lives of Camp Michaux—CCC camp, POW interment center, and our own church camp.  Stay tuned for more on this topic.  In the spring we will have the opportunity to partner in the work of creating trails, placing interpretive signs, and generally preparing the site for visitor education.  Zion has made a $500 contribution to this worthwhile effort.   A link for more information is www.schaeffersite.com.   One can also be in touch with the Cumberland County Historical Society.http://www.historicalsociety.com/
