The Treasurer noted that both the Lord Abbet and Edward Jones funds saw increases in February. The Matthew 25 fund stands at $6,074.23. After talking with the families, Pastor George announced the Dick S. memorial account will be used for Sunday School; the Chub R. memorial account will be used for capital improvements; the Paul S. memorial account will be used for capital improvements, specifically the Sunday School roof; the Geri B. memorial account will be used for the Audio Visual project, and the memorial money for non-members has been divided with $280.00 to capital improvements and $30.00 to Sunday School. There is no direction yet from ACNB for the PPP loan forgiveness process. In response to a question, the Treasurer noted that Community Aid monies are transferred to Mission as checks are received. Payments are made quarterly in arrears. After discussion, a motion was made by Betsy B. to move the $544.33 of Sunday School money from General Checking to Mission and was seconded by Minda H. The motion passed and money will be used for a specific project.

(See Pastor’s Report: Rev. George Heberling, February 11, 2021 to March 10, 2021, submitted on March 15, 2021.)
Pastor George reports that livestreaming from the parking lot has proved technically very difficult. Dan and Bill will give it a try this weekend, but it may not be possible. They will make the decision by noon on Saturday.
Mason K., a Confirmand may have a conflict with states wrestling championship on Easter, so Confirmation might be celebrated on two different Sundays or move all confirmands to the Sunday after Easter. Pastor George will keep us posted.
(See Ministry Reports, March 15, 2021.)
It is interesting that livestreaming sessions show higher attendance than regular sessions from 2020. Personnel reports that employee contracts are being returned for Consistory signatures. Membership encourages selfies to be taken and sent to the church for the online directory. Christian Ed is waiting for Chris B. to decide on Sunday School time as we move to outdoor worship at 10 a.m. Chris will also contact Jess P. about VBS. Mission is planning a pre-order only chicken bbq fundraiser for May 9th. They also discussed a laundromat mission with ziplock bags containing dryer sheets, quarters, a laundry pod, and a note from Zion. A means to evaluate that project should be decided before starting it. Fellowship is waiting for Jane T.’s family to decide the menu for her memorial reception – should be very light, individually bagged items. The Property Committee is waiting for ACNB to respond about the parking lot. The Sunday School roof project will be scheduled as soon as weather is consistently warmer. Roger will contact roofing company to see if AC units must be moved. He is also planning a general clean-up day in late April. Tony B.’s memorial bench needs to be installed. And Curt G. is trying to enforce no parking from his tenants on church lot.
A motion to accept both the Pastor’s Report and the Ministry Reports was made by Jay J. and seconded by Debra S. The motion passed.
Church Zoom account: Zion has purchased a Zoom account and the user credentials have been given to Consistory members. They must schedule meetings through Cindy so there is no overlap. George’s words of wisdom: Always end the meeting!
Community Aid Bin: The bin has been removed from the parking lot. Tom D. is picking up two signs to post so people do not leave items and the church does not have to deal with trash removal. Angie and Debra are working together to establish monthly drop-off of items which will be conveyed to Hanover store and for which Zion will get credit. Details will be in bulletin.
Capital Improvements: Cindy will put an update on the projects in the bulletin.
UAIS evacuation plan: Cindy will ask for a copy of the plan using Zion as an evacuation site and also remind Sherry T. to check if the principal has a key. A motion was made by Debra S. to agree to have Zion as an evacuation site and was seconded by Betsy B. The motion passed. Insurance liability during an emergency does not seem to be an issue.
Pastoral Transition update: A motion was made by Roger to terminate the interim pastorage of Rev. George as of April 30, 2021, and it was seconded by Minda H. The motion passed with thanks to George for his faithful service. Rev. Heather will be visiting at the end of the month, bringing books, and will sign the Association 3-way covenant at that time and re-sign originals if necessary. Jay will notify Rev. Fritz. Jay has arranged for Rev. Marissa Laviola from the Conference to preach on May 21st as Rev. Heather is officiating a wedding. Heather will prepare the liturgy ahead of time. A Consistory member should be on hand to greet Rev. Marisa when she arrives. As Conference staff, there is no need for payment.
A motion was made by Minda H. to adjourn and seconded by Tom D. The next regular consistory meeting will be on April 19, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. most likely in Fellowship Hall.
