Pictured here is the tower of aluminum can tabs that we have been collecting for the Ronald McDonald House.  A local teen collects the tabs and transports them to the Hershey Ronald McDonald House.  This project raises funds for the charity.  Gina Bushey is our coordinator for the project here at Zion.  The plastic tub [...]

Valerie Bushey writes:     “Thank you to the members and friends of Zion who made scarves for the Special Olympic Athletes.  35 handmade scarves were sent for the Pennsylvania athletes to wear in this year’s winter games.  It was great fun to see all of the different patterns used.  Each scarf is truly unique.  Thanks [...]

On January 15 Team “Rather Be Bowling” won big at Trivia Nite….garnering $330 for the Adams County SPCA.  The big sweep was in the Mixed Drinks category, where they hit 10 out of 10.  A former bartender came out of the closet to wrap up the victory.  Thanks to all who participated and gave so [...]

Zion is blessed to share its good fortune with the community.  Due to the generosity and faithful giving of our members, Zion  has been able to share in some special ways….above and beyond our normal mission giving.   At year’s end we are pleased to say that we have given $2000.oo to Hoffman Homes as an undesignated gift.  We have [...]

As always, Zion shares of its abundance with others.  Over the last few weeks we have gathered dozens of toys for the Holiday Bureau, purchased 36 gifts for the children of Hoffman Homes, and provided dozens of gifts for the residents of Homewood Homes in Hanover.  Thanks to all who give of their hearts, treasure, [...]

On Sunday November 13, 2011 we observed Veterans Day as part of our worship service.  General David Hicks, retired Chief of Army Chaplains, brought our message.  Our choir sang several selections, including the stirring new piece, American Anthem, by Gene Scheer.  That piece, sung by Norah Jones, was the theme for the Ken Burns PBS [...]

This year we had to postpone our annual event with the Healing Waters group because of the snow last Saturday, but we had a great day on November 5th.  7 vets from Forts Belvoir and Meade traveled to the Bennett fishing lodge for a day of fun, fishing, and camaraderie.  Lunch on the deck was [...]

On Sunday October 16 Zion’s Trivia Master, Gina Bushey, dished up another round of brain teasing questions.  “Snowball’s Chance” swept to victory with a sizable edge over the competition.  This was our biggest night ever, with 8 teams putting in a respectable showing.  The pumpkin crab soup was a big hit.  Snowball’s Chance garnered $240 [...]

Once again our quilters have provided quilts for the Head Start children at our church.  This delightful ministry has made over 500 quilts in as many years.  Their dedication is a blessing to many and we are grateful for their efforts done on behalf of our whole church.  We had a blessing of the Head [...]

On August 17, 2011 our Brownie Isabelle was recognized at Homewood Homes in Hanover for her service project.  Isabelle has been collecting cancelled postage stamps, which the residents at Homewood process and sell to stamp collectors.  Chaplain Hull gave us a tour and showed us how the fascinating process works. The stamps, which have been [...]
