One of our greatest joys is that of adding new members to the Body of Christ.  Especially the tiny, wriggly kind!  On Sunday May 13 we baptized Jaxson Wean and Colton Fourhman.  Congratulations to parents Kristin and Franklin Wean, and Nicole and Timothy. Nicole and Kristin are sisters.

On Sunday May 6 we were blessed to add 6 new members to our Zion family.  Joining our fellowship are Chris Hanna (Married to Brittni Bushey Hanna), Kim Keiper, Kathy Nelson, Brandee Nelson, Adam Little, Pat Schutter.  We welcome them and know that they will add much to our church.  We thank God for sending [...]

Trivia Nite was held on Sunday, April 29th, with 6 teams battling it out for their individually-chosen charities.  It came down to the wire, when after all rounds of competition were completed, 3 teams found themselves in a tie.  Though palms were sweaty and brains were tired, the desire to be crowned the “trivia masters,” [...]

On April 28 we rambled at Pine Grove Furnace, on the Daugherty, Leeper Road, and Buck Ridge Trails.  Mary Caldarelli challenged us to use our maps to find our way, and she gave us some valuable pointers in map reading and basic orienteering.  Next hike is on May 12 at 1 pm, leaving from the [...]

Provocative!  Inspiring!  Emotional!  Powerful! Zion’s Readers were fortunate to encounter a book in April that truly deserves all these descriptions.  In April we read “Same Kind of Different As Me” by Ron Hall and Denver Moore.  Published in 2006, this factual recounting of events from 2000, which tells the story of possibly the most unlikely of [...]

On Sunday April 22 we had the pleasure of another baptism at Zion.  Kaylee is the newest member of the Body of Christ, with proud parents  Matt and Jessica lo0king on.  Many family members and friends were in attendance, and it was a beautiful way to celebrate the presence of the Risen Christ in the [...]

Easter began with a lovely sunrise service at Fairview Cemetery, attended by 84 people from Zion, Trinity Lutheran, and the community. Then we went back to Zion for breakfast, with Sue Leedy’s delicious sticky buns!  The 9 am worship service was attended by 175 and was a glorious celebration of the Word and Sacrament.  Alleluia!  [...]

On April 5 we observed Maundy Thursday with a supper and worship service.  Our confirmands helped to set up, serve, and clean up the dinner which was enjoyed by 35 people.  Following supper we went to the sanctuary for a simple worship service that included communion, a lovely solo by Kevin Cooley, and the stripping [...]

ZionBook Club March Selection – “The Kitchen House” by Kathleen Grissom During March, Zion’s readers delved into a troubled time in our nation’s history as Southern agriculture depended on slaves who were bought, sold, and often treated in heinous ways.  Into that world comes a young Irish girl who lost her parents, indentured servants, during [...]

On Wednesday March 14 our first session of knitting and crocheting class was held.  It was a great success with learners of all ages.  Pam Sanders organized us and brought delicious desserts.  Our instructors were Val Bushey, Betsy Beach, and Bonnie Orlando.  Many a stitch was dropped, but many a laugh was had as well.  [...]
