Our neighbor Mr. Selim shared his Islam heritage and faith with our class. A native of Pakistan, he has been a citizen of this country since 1986. He had many insights to share about his native land, the teachings of Islam and about the Middle East in general. We learned of the complex sects of Islam and the ways in which those various sects contribute to unrest, but also adds to the beauty of that faith. He is hopeful that peace may someday reign. But that can only happen if we learn to talk with each other and understand that the different faiths are comprised of people who desire the same thing: to live a good life, serve God, and others.
