“Standing on the Promises”

VisitorsWelcome to our church.  Please sign our guest book!  If you do not have a church home, we pray that you will find one with us.  We have large-print bulletins available, as well as hearing assistance devices.  Please ask an usher if you require either of these.  Restrooms are located in the church school building.  Go through the door next to the choir loft, and straight ahead.  We also have restrooms downstairs in Fellowship Hall.  Again, exit through the door next to the choir loft, turn left down the hall, and go down the steps.

 *Call To Worship

Leader:    When we are hungry for a sustaining faith, we ask,

People:   Are you among us, O God?

People:   Are you among us, O God?

Leader:    As wandering people who long for mercy, we ask,

People:   Are you among us, O God?

Leader:    Secure in the freedom of your love, we ask,

People:   Are you among us, O God?

 Prayer Of Confession

All:         O God, we stand at the brink of what has been and what is yet to be.  We long to receive the gift of your liberation and to taste the sweetness of your promises.  But the way forward is unknown and so we hesitate:  discouraged, frightened, insecure, complaining.  Yet we know we must move ahead on our journey.  Make us mindful of your sustaining presence and, like a bird in full flight, may this assurance soar within our faith so we can rise above the challenges of this moment.   (A time for silent prayers of confession; Music:  “Through It All.”)

Assurance Of God’s Forgiveness

Leader:    God rains down manna in the wilderness and squeezes water from a desert rock.  With fire and cloud God leads us out of the bondage of our past into a future of freedom and safety.  God has been with us in the past, is with us in this present moment, and will be with us forever and ever.
